Essential Convictions

Missions is an Impossibility apart from the Power of God. All men of every culture are born radically depraved, at enmity with God, and restraining the truth. The conversion of a man and the advancement of missions are an absolute impossibility apart from the supernatural power of the Holy Spirit in the regeneration of the individual and the life of the church. Many church growth strategies and mission methodologies often overlook this essential truth.

Question: "What is the doctrine of the sufficiency of Scripture? What does it mean that the Bible is sufficient?"

Question: "What is the doctrine of the sufficiency of Scripture? What does it mean that the Bible is sufficient?"

Answer: The doctrine of the sufficiency of Scripture is a fundamental tenet of the Christian faith. To say the Scriptures are sufficient means that the Bible is all we need to equip us for a life of faith and service. It provides a clear demonstration of God’s intention to restore the broken relationship between Himself and humanity through His Son, Jesus Christ, our Savior through the gift of faith. No other writings are necessary for this good news to be understood, nor are any other writings required to equip us for a life of faith.

Truth About The "Sinners Prayer" vs True Repentance

Original Article: Ten Reasons To Not Ask Jesus Into Your Heart

by Todd Friel

The music weeps, the preacher pleads, “Give your heart to Jesus. You have a God shaped hole in your heart and only Jesus can fill it.” Dozens, hundreds or thousands of people who want to get their spiritual life on track make their way to the altar. They ask Jesus into their heart.

Cut to three months later. Nobody has seen our new convert in church. The follow up committee calls him and encourages him to attend a Bible study, but to no avail. We label him a backslider and get ready for the next outreach event.

Our beloved child lies in her snuggly warm bed and says, “Yes, Daddy. I want to ask Jesus into my heart.” You lead her in “the prayer” and hope that it sticks. You spend the next ten years questioning if she really, really meant it. Puberty hits and the answer reveals itself. She backslides. We spend the next ten years praying that she will come to her senses.

Telling someone to ask Jesus into their hearts has a very typical result, backsliding. the Bible says that a person who is soundly saved puts his hand to the plow and does not look back because he is fit for service. In other words, a true convert cannot backslide. If a person backslides, he never slid forward in the first place. “If any man is in Christ, he is a new creation.” (II Cor.5) No backsliding there.

Brace yourself for this one: with very few if any exceptions, anyone who asked Jesus into their hearts to be saved…is not. If you asked Jesus into your heart because you were told that is what you have to do to become a Christian, you were mis-informed.

If you have ever told someone to ask Jesus into their heart (like I have), you produced a false convert. Here is why.

Help Feed and Educate Children

We provide over 3,000 meals every month in our Haven of Hope centers in Guatemala. Unfortunately people have not been consistently donating although we have been consistently doing the work each day helping those in need.

We are lacking funds to continue and we need your help to continue feeding, educating and counseling children and families in Guatemala.

Please give a donation to help us continue to help vulnerable children in Guatemala and around the world.

Guatemala: Teaching Theology 101

The Hope Movement does not just want to meet the physical needs of children and families but also plant seeds of the Gospel in their hearts and make disciples of Christ. Often programs for children whether it be a feeding center, school, orphanage, children's church or Sunday school we water down the Gospel to be at their "level" in fact we do this for adults as well. Most professing Christians don't even know the basics of theology such as Who God really is, the depravity of man, repentance, justification, adoption, election, sanctification and much more. These are essential in order to be a Christian.

Preaching The Gospel In Baltimore: February 4, 2017

On February 4th people from various churches united as The Hope Movement to continue the work in transforming an abandoned lot on North Ave. into a Haven of Hope Community Garden, but part of that work of love is to not only plant seeds in soil but in hearts. With that in mind we set up a tent with a sign saying "Need Prayer" and the people came and asked for prayer, we preached the Gospel worshiped God and provided nearly over 80 meals and coffee to those in need.
