Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, who gave himself for our sins to deliver us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, to whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen. With sadness but also with complete trust in our sovereign God and optimism for what is to come we have to announce the elimination of the project 001 Haven of Hope Center in Escuintla, Guatemala. Funds have been limited as we need to increase our number of monthly donors and we were not receiving enough donations each month starting at the end of 2016 and entering into 2017 to be able to pay salaries to our staff operating the center. After informing the staff and giving them two months payment to help in this transition not because of anything negative they decided not to continue the work although we were going to continue to offer monthly support to this center just operating with volunteers as we do with our other centers and less days a week. Their decision was what they felt was best for them as a family, so the center under The Hope Movement will temporarily close and we will work on raising funds to reopen in Escuintla in another location focusing more on planting a church, evangelism, Christian education in a school for children with the greatest financial needs and nutrition. In the meantime we have three other projects in Guatemala which are providing the same services in Nuevo Amanacer (Project 003), San Juan Sacatepequez (Project 004) and Villa Lobos (Project 005). We will also be working on evangelistic missions to many areas including Escuintla. Along with our work in Guatemala we are now caring for orphans and widows in Africa and expanding our spread of the Gospel to many nations including the United States.
On April 8, 2017 group of volunteers worked at our transformed vacant lot on North Ave. in Baltimore City which is now the Haven of Hope Community Garden. We put up a small banner in the front of the garden which says "Need Prayer" and a Bible verse from Romans. As we were working in the garden people began to come to us seeking prayer not for things but for a change in their life. One lady came running up to us and asked where was the sign about Grace. I had just moved the sign to the side and she said I have been clean for 5 months and everytime I walk past this Garden I look at that sign and it reminds me of God's grace and my need to change. The sign says Grace is not an excuse to remain in your sin but a reason to love him more fully. The gospel was preached as many came seeking prayer and seeds were planted. To God be the glory.
Missions is an Impossibility apart from the Power of God. All men of every culture are born radically depraved, at enmity with God, and restraining the truth. The conversion of a man and the advancement of missions are an absolute impossibility apart from the supernatural power of the Holy Spirit in the regeneration of the individual and the life of the church. Many church growth strategies and mission methodologies often overlook this essential truth.
